Call for public comment: Proposed Revisions to Advanced Practice (DAOM) Doctoral Program

In accordance with its Standards Review Policy and US Department of Education regulations, the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM or Commission) is undertaking a comprehensive review of the accreditation requirements for the advanced practice Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) program. 

The draft revisions address programmatic standards that are unique or specific to the advanced practice doctoral program.  Standards and criteria applicable to all accredited programs remain unchanged by this proposal and apply to all accredited programs including this program. 

Before making any substantive changes to its Comprehensive Standards and Criteria, it is the Commission’s long-standing practice to provide notice to all relevant stakeholders and constituencies of proposed changes; give the interested parties adequate opportunity to comment on the proposed changes; and use the input received to help inform final decisions. 

This call for public comment is open through Sunday, July 2, 2023.

Interested parties are invited to comment on the proposed revisions to the Standards outlined above, using any of the following methods:   
1. Via this online survey instrument: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CW52RY7 ; or 
2. Via electronic mail, in the form of an attached PDF document with the signature of the commenter, sent to info@acahm.org [Email subject line must include “DAOM Public Comment”]  Comments must be received no later than 4:30pm US Central Time on Sunday, July 2, 2023.    

All comments will be reviewed by the Commission in accordance with ACAHM policy and further actions by the Commission will be announced on the ACAHM website.
